The IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) and WHO (World Health Organization) have accepted that chewing betel leaves and betel nuts leads to oral cancer. Specially, chewing the areca nuts with or without tobacco is hazardous and increase the chances of oral cancer. According to a research, the chances of the oral cancer increases 50 times in a person who chews betel leaves with areca nuts and tobacco. Even 11-12 year old children are now being seen with pre-cancerous growth effects after just two years of chewing. 
Continuous chewing of betel leaves discolours the teeth permanently and there is no medicine to completely remediate the same except the replacement of teeth. According the reports of IARC & WHO and the suggestions of health specialists, it is highly recommended for you to keep yourself and your dear ones away from this bad habits for avoiding oral cancer and dental discolourness .
